Craziness is the best word I can think of to describe the last week. Ok, there are other words I can think of, but this one doesn't bring about negative feelings. I know I haven't blogged about the family reunion yet, but I will. I know you know my life is filled with baseball, softball, football, and church. This week we also threw in a JH band performance at the HS football game. That alone is enough to send a person over the edge. Thankfully it didn't.
Back in 2008 Marc had some health issues. Well, this week he has been slammed again! He went to the ER on Tuesday night because his heart rate was insanely high...over 200 and wouldn't come down. I was worried, but went on with our activities as usual. The next day Marc was a little upset, because I didn't tell the kids he had been in the hospital overnight. I am not heartless, I had my reasons. Fast forward to Friday night. I dropped Josh off at school for his band thing. I was extremely upset that I didn't get to go, but Samantha had a softball game. Marc called and told me he was on his way home early. I sent him to the football stadium to watch Josh. I got to see Sam play an amazing game, and Marc got to see Josh play with the band during the first and part of the second quarter of the football game. They were also supposed to play at half-time. Well...Marc called and said his heart was going nuts again, and he was going back to the ER. A few hours later he texted me to let me know he was in the ICU. I had to tell the kids this time. Hannah and Caleb weren't phased by the news. Josh seemed ok by it. Samantha did not handle it well. She started crying and playing the "what if?" game. This of course got Caleb and Hannah worried (precisely why I didn't mention it Tuesday night). All the texts I got from Marc said, "It's bad" or "It's really bad." He is truly a man of many words!
Saturday he texted to let me know he would be there a few days. He couldn't call, because his phone was about to go dead. My mom and brother came over that afternoon, so I left to go see him and take him a charger. Well, I ended up getting kicked out pretty quickly, because visiting hours were over. BUT I was welcome to come back in 2 hours when visiting hours resumed. I was not happy, but what could I have done? Kids aren't allowed in the ICU. Sunday he was still there and undergoing tests. The doctor figured out the heart issue, but he had to have more tests run on his stomach, so the kids and I went to church.
Now you all know that I LOVE church. It is my happy place. Well this Sunday was nuts!!! My voice was icky. I managed to sing ok during the first service. For the second, I had to drop down to the tenor part...when I could sing. THEN the fire alarm went off right before the sermon began. NO LIE...the WHOLE building evacuated. It ended up being a false alarm. I texted Marc a few times during this, because I was worried not knowing exactly where Samantha was. I ran into Josh on the way out, and I knew the littles were ok with their teachers. Now...don't go thinking my kids run free during church!!! When the Singers sing during the second service, she sits with a friend if my mom is not there, that way she doesn't have to sit alone until I get there. Marc texted me that he would probably get to come home today. We went along with our Sunday...as unusual as it was. We went home and watched the Texans whip up on the Titans! I lost my voice. I could NOT cheer at all during the game. It was horrible!!! LOL
Marc got to come home right around dinner. I got as many details as I could...I couldn't speak! Things are all good for now...mostly! I still can't speak, but we are managing. Samantha seems to know what I want to say before I say it, and is communicating that with everyone else. Everyone is happy to have daddy home.
Now we get to go to ballgames. I think Marc is going to Samantha's game. I am going to Caleb's. His coach will be so glad I can't speak...she doesn't like me much. NOT because I am one of those mom's, but because she doesn't have a clue what she is doing. This is not Caleb's first go round in coach pitch...unlike the other kids. If I see something wrong, I mention it. I also coach my own kid...since she can't do it! It will be a quiet game tonight!
Family reunion details coming soon...
