Healed

In yesterday's post, I talked about being HAPPY. I mentioned that I had lots of time to think and just be quiet. I didn't only think about the word HAPPY. I also thought about the word HEALED. I was taken back a couple of years. We were sitting in Sunday school and we got off topic. It was not odd for that to happen in that particular class. We talked about prayer and healing. The Bible says Jesus healed people all over.

Matthew 4:23-24 "Jesus went through Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and HEALING every disease and sickness among the people. News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizure, and the paralyzed, and he healed them."

Do you see the part where people brought to him those who were sick? Why would they do that? Obviously because they believed Jesus could heal them.

Mark 7:30-32 "Then Jesus left the vicinity of Tyre and went through Sidon, down to the Sea of Galilee and into the region of the Decapolis. There some people brought to him a man who was deaf and could hardly talk, and they begged him to place his hand on the man."

Do you see it again? The people brought the man to Jesus for healing. There are lots of passages like this.

Here is a story about a dead girl and a sick woman from Luke 8:40-50
"Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him. Then a man named Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, came and fell at Jesus' feet, pleading with him to come to his house because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying. As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped."Who touched me?" Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, "Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you."But Jesus said, "Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me."Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. "Your daughter is dead," he said. "Don't bother the teacher any more."Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed."
Again these people came to him! The woman just touched him and she was healed! I can tell you (and did bring this up at the time) that if Jesus was physically walking on this earth right now I would go to the ends of the earth to have my boys healed. I would pursue him like mad....to the point of becoming stalkerish for that healing for them. I think most parents would feel the same way about their children too. BUT...and this is a big BUT---how many of us pursue God in prayer for healing. I am not just talking about praying for healing, but being passionate and seeking fervently. I talked a little about praying in my blog post back in October about Josh's good news. I said this about praying, "Sometimes it made it hard to pray because I just knew Josh would be healed. Other times it made it easy to pray with 100% faith in that healing because I knew it would happen. Then still other times I would pray in frustration as he got worse, so much worse." How different could it be if we sought after Jesus like we were following him to the ends of the earth? How different would our prayers be? How different would our relationship with God be? I bet it would be lots better! At least for me. Why is it so hard to pursue God like that? I personally think that if that fervor existed in my relationship I would be a much stronger person, as would my children. Does that mean I believe that everyone who seeks healing will be healed? No, it does not. I believe that God choses not to heal some, not because of a lack of faith or passion, but because it glorifies Him more to not heal. How is that? If Josh would have been healed when he was 2---when I first started consistently praying, we would have missed out on so much. Josh would not have a heart of compassion for those who are different. Josh would have never read and fell in love with Job. Josh would not have had that moment of perfect surrender in weakness. I would not have learned about God's love and faithfulness through the strength and faith of MY child. I would not get to show an example of a happy mom who is an advocate for her children daily. I would not have the chance to show people that happiness is not based in a "perfect" existence. I would not get a chance to talk with so many people who out of concern ask about the boys. I would not get to tell those people about God's grace and mercy when they ask me how I do it. I would not have taken the initiative to give my family the gift of nutrition (let's face it, eating junk is easy... committing to feed your family healthy nutritious food is not). I would still stress over the little things I have no control over.

Did YOU feel the mountains tremble???? I live in a flat area with no mountains, but I have felt the mountains of my life tremble!

Did YOU hear the oceans roar???? I have! Do you remember this video?

I have faith that God can move those mountains and make them tremble. I have faith that God makes that ocean roar. I want to pursue God with that same determination and fervor of those who cam from all over to have Jesus touch them and heal them. I am praying for that zeal! I am also praying for a mentor. I did not have that example (a family that seeks God daily) growing up, so sometimes I feel a little lost. I want to be the mother and wife God wants me to be, but I feel like I fail in so many ways. I would love to see and hear how others do it faithfully---daily.
